Nelson Ladies Kennel Association April 2009 - Judging

The weather could not have been better – around 18C all day, some sunshine, and no wind – a great day for dogs, exhibitors, and of course the judges. Three judges had come to adjudicate – Jan Kirin from Canberra, Glenda Goller from Brisbane, and myself. Saturday saw me doing the Working group, where I had a good entry of GSDs, Rough Collies, and Pembroke Corgi, with some excellent specimens of each breed.   The utility group, although having relatively small to medium numbers in breeds, had a very strong line up in quality of dogs, with Boxers, Siberians, Dobermans, and Samoyeds being well represented. At the same time there was a very nice Neopolitian Mastiff and a Leonberger. My group winner was a very solid boxer with a classic head piece. Sunday saw me doing Gundogs and Terriers. The gundog group had a strong entry of English Pointers, including my eventual BIG. The terrier group was primarily Smooth Fox Terriers, including a very nice open dog that was my BIG. On Saturday I did BIS and gave the Corgi BIS and a Pekingese runner-up. On Sunday, Glenda Goller did BIS and she gave the Siberian BIS and a standard Poodle runner-up.
